If you have an iPhone or an iPad (or even an iPod Touch), you should definitely take a look at these two language-related apps.
Name It
Name It is a fun game which helps you to practise your vocabulary in one of 8 different languages. Help Kenny the chameleon to catch the flies. Tap the correct word to match the photo. With each correct answer, Kenny gets closer to the flies to gain an extra life or bonus points. But hurry, as you only have limited time to get the right answer!
World Phrasebook
World Phrasebook provides useful and cheesy phrases for travellers, holidaymakers and people wanting to have some fun with languages. It supports 8 different languages and contains a huge number of different phrases (more than most other apps) across categories including basic vocabulary, meeting and dating, travel, and emergencies. Phrases can be looked up in any of the 8 languages (English, Chinese, French, German, Italian, Spanish, Polish and Icelandic) and translations are displayed in all of the other languages. Each phrase is also spoken aloud, allowing you to practise the pronunciation, or to play it when necessary.
No Internet connection is required to browse the phrases, see the translations, or hear them spoken as they are all stored within the app itself. Ideal when travelling abroad and not wishing to pay roaming data charges!
